News: Bishop encourages youth to bring home enthusiasm from NCYC
November 23, 2019
Bishop William Joensen celebrated Mass for 550 teens and chaperones from our diocese who traveled to Indianapolis before Thanksgiving for the National Catholic Youth Conference. He left them with these encouraging words.
"Friends, Thank you for deciding to be here at #NCYC these sacred days. Of all your options, you’ve chosen to spend your weekend here in Indy. To meet and pray with you stirs our hearts and inflames our hopes for you. Whatever personal graces you experience, may they be rooted in the great delight in professing, ‘Jesus knows me, and I know and love him ever more.’
"Now what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But what happens in Indy, can’t remain in secret. For when you return to our Des Moines diocese, people will be able to see. They’ll say, ‘I know you but there’s something more, the way your lamp lights and burns.’ For your ongoing friendship with Christ, and that oil of your anointing and burning love will help light not only the diocese but the world!"
