Approved Text Series for use in Diocese of Des Moines Parishes and Schools

Bishop Joensen, in his role as chief catechist, determines the texts used in the Diocese of Des Moines.  He relies on the Evangelization and Catechesis staff  to help him develop a list that should be considered for review. 

The texts on our approved list come from the Conformity Review List of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), which is revised at least bi-annually.

This list should be used as a reliable guide to help pastors and catechetical leaders (leaders in religious education, youth ministry, and Catholic school administrators) review acceptable options and discern the series or texts that would best meet the needs of the parish or school; the final approval should be made by the pastor.  Texts not listed, can only be used as supplemental resources, not as the primary texts for instruction.
