News: Arrangements for Jesuit Father David Smith

Father David Smith died July 9 while serving as pastor of three Shelby County parishes in the Diocese of Des Moines.

Arrangements are as follows:

Tuesday July 13

• 5pm-7pm Visitation at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries and Crematory—Omaha, Nebraska
• 7pm Wake Service

Wednesday July 14

• 10am Visitation at St. Mary our Lady of Fatima Church–Portsmouth, Iowa
• 11am Funeral Mass
• Noon Luncheon following funeral liturgy

Thursday July 15

• 10am Burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery –Omaha, Nebraska

Just 10 days earlier, Father Dan Gehler, who also ministered to three parishes in Shelby County, died. Father Gehler's visitation begins at 4 p.m. the same afternoon of Father Smith's funeral luncheon at St. Joseph Church in Earling. Father Gehler's wake service is at 7pm that night and his Mass of Christian Burial is at 11am the next day.
