Father Donald Bruck dies

With sadness mingled with trust in God's compassion and enduring love, we want to share with you the death of Father Donald Bruck. He was 80 years old, a priest for 55 years. A wake will be at St. Michael Church in Harlan on Friday from 5-8 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. Here is the obituary.

Eternal rest grant unto Father Bruck, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

Father Bruck, of St. Mary Parish in Panama, attended St. Mary High School in Panama, Conception Seminary in Missouri and Mt. St. Bernard Seminary in Dubuque. He was ordained in June, 1968 by Bishop Frank Greteman at St. Ambrose Cathedral.

Father Bruck served at the following parishes: All Saints, Des Moines; Christ the King, Des Moines; St. Patrick, Council Bluffs; faculty at Dowling Catholic High School/St. Joseph Education Center, West Des Moines; St. Augustin, Des Moines; St. Peter, Defiance; St Clare, Clarinda; St Joseph, Villisca; Sacred Heart, Bedford; St. Mary, Red Oak; St Patrick, Council Bluffs; St. Thomas Aquinas, Indianola; St Mary, Shenandoah; St. Mary, Hamburg; and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, from which he retired in 2011.
