December 2, 2024

Scott Hahn is coming to Des Moines

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is excited to announce that Dr. Scott Hahn, one of the most renowned Catholic theologians of our time, will speak at the parish on Saturday, March 1, 2025. This special event, hosted in partnership with the St. Paul Center, is free and open to the public, offering a special opportunity to study scripture from the heart of the Church with one of today’s most respected scholars this Lenten season.

The day will begin with Mass at 8:00 am, followed by a welcome and check-in at 8:45 am. Dr. Hahn will deliver two inspiring talks at 9:05 am and 10:50 am. Between his presentations, a representative from the St. Paul Center will give a brief presentation at 10:05 am.

Dr. Hahn is a Professor of Biblical Theology and the New Evangelization at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he has taught since 1990. He is the Founder and President of the St. Paul Center, an apostolate dedicated to teaching Catholics to read Scripture from the heart of the Church.

Over the last three decades, he has delivered thousands of popular talks and academic lectures, nationally and internationally, on a wide range of topics related to Scripture, Theology, and the Catholic faith. Dr. Hahn has been married to his wife Kimberly for forty-four years, and together they have six children and twenty-three grandchildren.

At St. Francis of Assisi, we are proud to serve as a spiritual home for the largest Catholic community in Iowa. We are committed to helping individuals deepen their relationship with God and engage with our greater community. This event offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of today’s leading Catholic theologians, reflect on the Lenten season in preparation for Easter, and grow in faith and fellowship in a family-friendly environment.
