USCCB Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Non-profit organizations serving underprivileged communities and parish-based service projects serving low-income and/underserved communities are invited to apply for a grant from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

Each year parishes across the diocese contribute to a special collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the national anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ "... to bring glad tidings to the poor ...  liberty to captives ...  sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free." (Luke 4:18)

After the collection, 75% of the funds are sent to the USCCB for national anti-poverty programs while 25% of funds raised remain in the Diocese of Des Moines to address local anti-poverty initiatives.

Applications for grants from those funds are now open to all local non-profit organizations and parish-based service projects that are serving underprivileged, low-income, and/or underserved communities. Applicants' projects must focus on at least one of the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy and adhere to Catholic Social Teaching.
