Ordination to Transitional Diaconate

All are invited to the Celebration of the Eucharist with the Rite of Ordination of Diaconate on June 6th at 5 PM at the Basilica of St. John, when Bishop William Joensen will ordain L. Stanley Asjes to the Order of Diaconate.

Following the Mass there will be a reception in the parish hall.

What is the transitional diaconate?
Ordination to the transitional diaconate marks the last stage in seminary formation before ordination to the priesthood. The ordination brings about a profound change in the life of the man who receives it, as he passes from the lay to the clerical state. At the ordination, the man makes a public commitment to certain promises, namely, obedience to his ordinary, maintaining a life of chaste celibacy, and being a man of prayer, specifically by praying the Divine Office on behalf of the Church and the world.
